Misting

Okay well with three pins formed, and I the happy father of three soon to be full grow mushrooms on the way, my cakes seem to be alittle dry. A do have perlite with water/H2O2 in it to prodvied a higher RH, but alas this seems to be alittle lacking. Not much but alittle. In a effort to help rehydrate the cakes (oh and by the way I did dunk and roll) alittle I misted them, which was apparently alittle to heavy for them as they bruised blue. Now I was wondering if I should continue to mist them, of course with a finer mister to prevent further damage, or whether I should just up th ewater level in the perlite ( which IS on the rather low side). Whats your opinion?

Mist from a distance above the cakes letting only the finest mist hit the cakes, a couple of squirts several times a day should help a lot.

I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"

if you double-end cased in such a way the cakes are resting on top of a pile of verm, you can inject water into that verm at the bottom using either a syringe or an eyedropper. just don't overdo it, keep it at 10 or 20 cc, and maybe repeat once a day for a few days. more frequent small waterings is generally better than fewer large waterings, same goes for misting.

Well I "technically" did a dunk and roll as opposed to a dunk and double end casing, but I guess its sorta the same. The mycelium has sorta already "consumed" the layer of verm and sucked all the water out of it, but I guess there are simple remedies for this situation like both you and hypae suggested.
