I've got a question!

Hrm...I'm new here. I've done a lot of browsing around this site, this board, and many similar ones, and haven't found the answer I'm looking for, so I'm bringing it to the kind, mushroom loving members of this board.
Will innoculating directly into the ground work? I plan on using a popular outdoor Tek, but all I can find suggest using old cakes, or spawn, or agar in the outdoor bed. I'm trying to skip this step. The way I see it is this: mushrooms in the wild drop spores, and as long as the enviromental elements are right, they grow. So, if I stacked the enviromental elements in the mushroom's favor and inoculate the 'shroom bed, why wouldn't it work?
So, to shorten my question: If I prepare an outdoor bed and inoculate it directly will it work? If not, why not?
Also, I look forward to being a regular member of this board, and bothering you all with shit-tons more stupid questions!

What type of mushrooms? Cubensis doesn't grow in the ground, it grows on cow/horse poo. You can try and inoculate some crap but there are much better ways to do it.

It seems to me that any wood-loving shroom should do well in a wood bed.
More specifically I've looked into (only two for now) P. Cyanescens and P Azurescens.

Obviously you lied about your prior searching for an answer.
That would be a great way to waste spores. BUT it might just ghetto work.
There are more professional ways of going about it, than pissing spores into the wind.

it could work. people are jsut saying there are much better ways of doing it. the amount of spores you would need for a large out door bed would be very much if you are not already growing and gathering spores. you could try doing a small bed the way you are saying. or you could just use the small amount of spores (that you get for very cheap or free) to inoculate a number of different substrates (what ever is best for you). you can inoculate PF cakes, grain based substrates, agar, liquid culture and many other substrates. the step of inoculating a substrate would be beneficial because you can then spawn it to larger amounts of substrate to expand the mycelium and/or spawn it to larger amounts of the substrate that is to be used outdoors. good luck. i did done some really basic outdoor grows when i first started growing and many methods seem to work. i would say jsut experiment with it and try to imitate nature and things seem to work out. good luck

Dear Edgekrusher, don't be a douche bag. Just because I knew strains doesn't mean I knew the answer to my specific question. Also, I don't see how trying something that may or may not work is "pissing spores in the wind". I understand fully that there are well devised, proven ways to do this, but I was curious as to wether or not something would work. But have a wonderful day of being a prick. I'm sure it works well for you.
LochRaven, thanks! I kinda figure I'm going to have to grow indoors, with substrates, and such, but I'd like to avoid it, if I can.

Slow your roll, bro. I made no personal attack on you. If you'd creep around the board a bit, you would have noticed your question has been asked a hundred times. In fact jump on the search engine and see for yourself.
The search engine, as you will find, is an invaluable tool. I guarantee you it can answer 90% of all your questions, without you even having to ask them. Read the F&Q concerning the search engine if you have any questions concerning its operation.
Don't think I'm calling you names, or insulting your intelligence. I'm sure most people who don't know jack about mycology assume you can just squirt spores on the ground and get growth. I know I did when I first started. You're not stupid just because you don't know how to cultivate mushrooms
look around though. Outdoor grows are most deffinitely possible and there are even guided teks on them. But like I said, spraying them on dirt has the same chances of growing as pissing em in the wind. Sorry if the metaphore upset you, but it's valid. You'd have more of a chance if you'd spawn into your prepared bed with colonized culture.
Now if you still want to call me names, you're a dumbass who doesn't deserve my rough criticism. You can act like a big baby by yourself. I'm not visiting this thread anymore until you grow up a bit.
Good day.

But how are you going to know if I grew up if you're not coming back?
I understand what you're saying, and I maybe did jump the gun on jumping down your back. I have looked around, and I've read the outdoor teks, they all suggest putting some sort of spawn in the outdoor bed, I just wanted to know if this step could be skipped. I've checked the Shroomery FAQ as well as all the things about outdoor cultivation (I will admit, I didn't thoroughly search the board) and I didn't find the answer to my question.
Also, I don't see how "just squirting them on the ground" can have zero effect, seeing as that's basically how mushrooms grow in nature.

If it were that simple, mushrooms in the wild would be much more abundant then they are and we probably wouldn't need to cultivate indoors. Mushrooms drop millions of spores, yet you can search an entire cow field after a good rain and not find any. Most mushroom you do find are connected to a large underground mycelial network that has already established itself and produces fruits when the conditions are just right. I'd say most spores in the wild never get a chance to germinate.
Trying to create ideal conditions for spores to germinate and continue colonizing outdoors might be tougher than you think.

Fuckin' a!
The only kind of fishing I ever get to do is bass/perch and other such shitty unexciting fish (lakes/rivers of Northern VA). The idea of fishing for dolphins had never even crossed my mind, but I think I've got a new life goal.
Life goals as of current: 1) Kick the living shit out of Jeff Foxworthy 2) Kick the living shit out of my boss. 3) Fish for dolphins. (Is it still considered fishing since dolphins aren't fish?)
It's amazing what I'll post on a message board to avoid doing work.

The dolphins we're talking about are fish, also known as Mahi Mahi.
