Oh I agree that cops have too much authority and that we probably ARE moving towards becoming a police state, but twisting facts, as this video appears to do, does not increase your credibility. I was not at all doubting the validity of the main idea of the video.
In reference to the video that anewway2sayhooray posted, http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6529813972926262623 , I think it is very well done. Makes Michael Moore's attempt at the same look clownish and not very well thought-out (As if it did not appear that way already .)

What facts were being twisted? I didn't see any bottles being thrown. I know its not good to assume but this girl emphasized that point clearly several times, I doubt that she was lying. And if the cops made up that story about the bottle then their the ones twisting the facts. I know its easy to assume that the tape was manipulated but for the bottle thing I'm leaning more towards the protesters just for the manner in which the instructions were given to move the crowd plus the fact that she kept reemphasizing that situation. Meaning she was pretty dam adamant about that particular incident, to me the specifics are important.

Well again, you are basing that statement on the video's narrative. What I am saying is that it IS entirely plausible that some facts in the video are twisted. The non-sequential footage of the riot breakup scene, for example. Also, this video presents no concrete evidence to support the statement that the reason the police broke up the crowd was because the noises were disturbing rich guests.

The video makes some good points, but I am skeptical of anything like this narrated by a cartoon character

Look I'm sure the tape was manipulated to create a prospective; but the bottle being thrown was definite point of emphasis; she stated that this was the excuse given to the media by the police, nothing was said about the police doing this because of guests in the Hilton, in the manner in which the officer ordered the removal of this crowd seemed suspicious. It seem to be his premeditated motive to disperse this crowd using pepper spray, sticks and rubber bullets. The crowd did not seem to be very hostile to the point in which this amount engagement was necessary, in fact the guy holding up sign was minding his own business and some cop came up and took him down for no reason. This was definitely out of line I thought. It wasn't a great PR campaign for police so I can see them lying, trying to cover their tracks.

"but wearing bandannas to cover their faces does make you look like gang bangers or a secret society, even though this may not be true, perception is reality "
The fact we were seeing the police scan faces means the protesters obviously know that they are being watched. Information collection. More than any of us probably think. I went to the National rainbow gathering on year, and at the big circle main event, there were several police officers that showed up - doing nothing but video taping.
Some people have lives and careers, and don't want to end up having things held against them or like Frank Hampton. =/
And danlennon, I think its closer to 97% of people that don't mean shit. Its that top minority that owns the majority that laws are made and broken for.

I agree with that assessment, knowing first hand how cops are trained to be meticulous in which they can gather and derive information on the alleged perpetrators, in which in this case the protesters; more or less they are looking for clues in finding how this was organized, such as their emphasis on possible leaders. I know the protesters wearing bandannas knew this and I know the cops know why the protesters where wearing bandannas, to cover up their identity's but they still symbolize something else as well, they symbolize terror, anarchy, organization of hidden movement, possible threat of violence or a riot, just the paranoia having to wear a bandanna will draw on suspension, like this guys got something to hide.
