Man, i love this stuff... Try to get a few James Asher tracks. Some of them suck, but by far my fav track is "Sand in the drums" -its alive man! Kevin Locke has some good Native American tracks out there. Try form the album Open Circle. Im really not sure about the definition of tribal youre going by, but you might want to try listneing to some East Indian beats, maybe some Ravi Shankar, Tavlin Singh, or Tabla Beat Science (both modern indian). Native Australian music is "tribal" as well i guess. Try looking for some David Hudson, Stephen Kent, or an album called "Sound of the Earth" Oh yah, and one more thing! Try out some japanese drums, the "kodo drummers", Taiko drums and such. That stuff gets INTENSE! Have fun!

Earth, Wind and Fire (especially "Kalimba Story" ) There's a book called "Drumming in the Spirit" that comes w/ a CD the book is so-so but the further into the CD you get the more intense the beats get. Captain: IMO native music of any sort is tribal. Go w/ your gut. No need to consider it a guess. But then again I don't know much.
