overlaid Amazonians? should I scratch it?

The fruiting started I'm all but one of my casings(they are all in the same environment). The most aggressive one. I start wondering If it has become overlaid and if its time to scratch the surface. What do people think?

That's a thick myc cover. Amazonians sometimes do this to me, although not to the extent in your picture. However, even the thick matted patches of mycelium usually produce large and many mushrooms for at least a few flushes.
I'm not sure if it qualifies as overlay and I'm a bit warying of scratching it...I'm sure some better opinions are on their way--

That doesn't look like mushroom mycelium to me at all. Is that straw under it? RR

So you say this is mold? Well, I put it in its own chamber now if it will turn green. How long will it take before I know if it is?

if you give it a light mist with water, it will reak of that lovely mushroom scent. if it doesnt....then you know it isnt mycelium
i would throw that out if it isnt mycelium. otherwise you're just letting the contam spread and more likely that you get it next time too

I don't think it's trichoderma or it would be green already. I was thinking bacterial contamination because the 'myc' seems to be 1/4" above the substrate. I agree-give it the smell test. Don't toss out anything that smells like fresh mushrooms. RR

One word, stroma. It is mycelium without a doubt. Aggressive would be an understatement!

I'm not as experienced with mushroom cultivation as most of you, but I'm experienced with same Amazonian genes egolost is working with.
What happens to him, happens to me about 1/3 of the time the cakes are spawned to horsedung, even without h20 applied. Amazonian super-strange strain.
Also, I spoke to egolost and he said that it only smells like fresh mushrooms.
Maybe he can post a picture for us in a few days if there are pins.
