Great success with 24 hours light *PICs*

This is my first grow. 1 cake and 1 casing with 2 cakes. all BRF PF tek. While they were fruiting (until the pins were about 3/4" I gave them 24 hours of light. After that height, I switched to ~15 on 9 off. I've seen much better yields from other people, but I thought I'd share my story, and get other people's input on the 24 hour lighting.
these are the first flushes

i read somewhere on here that fungus is phototropic and therefore light isnt necessary for its growth, but rather for the direction in which it grows

correct they are more like animals in that sense, they don't really need light to grow but it certainly helps... and that is an impressive grow, almost no aborts, thoes are some happy B+s'! what was their dry weight (or wet)?

Light is one of the 3 steps to initate pinning. Your right in the sence that no photosyntheis takes place, you could grow in darkness, but light helps alot.
I use a 4 wat light bulb 12/12 on a timer, works great for me

Once you have grown for awhile you'll soon realize light plays a bigger part in growth as well as yield especially when setting pins.

what I am saying is that....
well I understand light and it's importance. and now that I read my comment it is wrong.
they do use light to grow, what I really should have said is:
mushrooms do not photosynthesize light, they use it in a different way. light is quite important, just in a different way. Triggering pins is very important, especially on the first flush. We all want the most pins possible. So, with the 24 hour light during pinning, she had a great pinset as was able to mature most all of them. After which a 15 hour on cycle for maturation.
I have rooms with overhead fluorescent 12 and 12, plant and aquarium bulbs. I always have different stages of development in different parts of the room. Considering this, would it be a good Idea now to go to 15-16 on and 8-9 off? All the time?

I honestly never observe my lighting
I'm very meticilous about everything though...
I normally give it like 24 hours of light after I put it in the FC...Which isn't really necessary IMO, I just usually leave the light on . However, once I see fruits, I give it like 12/12..I like the light to be on more because I've always thought it'd help slow myc. growth (For better pinsets to come)...But...Now I dunk completely different so it's not even something I care for anymore really. So i'm not really worried about how long I leave the light on. I just make sure it has lots of blue in it and that I don't leave it on 24/7 (Mushies don't like light THAT MUCH ).

24hrs. of light will give you no more better pinset than 12-16hrs. Trust me here guys the only thing your doing is making the electric company richer! Please don't be sheep use your heads. Pinning relies on the coincidence of all triggers optimally.

On the two cakes and the casing I did, I got zero aborts. On the second flush of the casing, I got a couple. Didn't get a weight, they went straight into my mouth after the pic! The second flush is almost done, with 24 hours light for 108 hours after being dunk/rolled, with no fanning, humidity at 70% after the 108 hours. I'm working on a BRAND NEW method for growing pf cakes. Hopefully it'll make a huge change, but more on that and second, third, etc flush to come in a bit. thanks for the nomination guys

Many mushrooms on a cake or casing dont use up the nutrients, you can still get second flushes right? Then theres stil nutrients. However if water isnt made available in the amount they need, and fresh air..then they will abort.

Exactly aborts are caused by parameters being out of an acceptable range.

Violet actually had a thread a while back where she found that direct light contributed to a faster maturation yet smaller yield in the end vs indirect light. It was interesting.
Personally i like and prefer my fruits to get the 12/12 of direct light. I find the caps develop better that way. I also agree with hyphae that in excess of that is just helping out the utilities. Dude may be an OG shroom grower but, thats what makes him an OG shroom grower
