Method for modifying a cool mist.

Here is a quick and easy way for modifying a cool mist for use with just about any set-up. I'm sorry there aren't step-by-step pics. I hope my explanation will be thorough enough.
I began by tracing a circle on the cool mist using a PVC straight connector piece. The idea was to embed a connector piece that the PVC piping could be removed from, making refiling the cool mist much easier.
Next, I broke out the dremel. The dremel made working with the hard plastic extremely easy. The first step was to get the hole for the connector piece started. I made an octagon-like shape within the traced circle with a cutting wheel (acc. 409). I then used a sanding band (acc. 407) to round out octagon into a circular shape that would fit the PVC connector piece.
Once the hole had been sanding to a large enough circle for the connector piece to fit, I inserted it half-way and sealed it with duct tape.
The whole process was repeated for a second whole, because the whole humidification/FAE exchange system is set up for two intakes. Lastly, the normal outlet on the cool mist was sealed off with, you guessed it, more duct tape.
The dremel made quick work of this job and provided a more than satisfactory result.
End result:

I've got one of these that I bought when I was sick one time. I haven't used it yet but was wondering how well they work. I saw in another post a while back someone said they went through about 3 or 4 of them because they broke so fast. Have you had that problem with this set up?
Thanks for explaining how you set this up.

I've used a cool mist in a rubbermaid terrarium for a while and haven't had any problems with it. This one was modified for a greenhouse set-up and so far it's working great. Haven't put any casings in the greenhouse yet, but my test run gave a humidity level that was constantly in the mid 90%'s.
