penesilen(spelling?) in mushrooms

My friend is allergic to penesilen(not sure if thats how you
spell it just sound it out) and she wants to shroom it up
but isnt sure if there is any penesilen in mushrooms.
Does anyone know if there is or isnt any in shrooms?

I haven't heard of shrooms producing penicillin, but if they were contaminated, growing with penicillin producing critters, then the fruitbodies can pick it up. There are smarter people than I around here than can give you a better answer.

She will be fine.... I know a person who is deathly allergic to penicillin and has eaten shrooms plenty of times. Penicillin is only made by a certain genus of fungi and maybe only specific to a certain specie, not for sure on that.

penicillin is produced by the species of mold known as penicillium notatum. your friend should be fine as long as the shrooms are not contaminated with this particular mold
