Help Identify
    #5635856 - 05/16/06 12:12 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I found these growing in the shade in a park near my home today. They were growing in fertilized grass. I have made an attempt to identify these but feel that I am not in a position to do so. The cap is smooth and light brown. the gills are very thin and closely packed and range from a light brown (in the younger samples) to black (in some of the more mature samples) The stem ranges from a light straw to a dark brown. The cap is round on the younger mushrooms and others take the shape of a rounded bell. The stems do not bruise blue and I have yet to do a spore print I very well may have more than one type of mushroom here. I apologize for the bad description but its the best I could come up with I hope the pictures help some.

Could be Panaeolus.. they just look dried. The cap color of a lot of the grass growing species can change color as they dry. Sometimes even taking on a shiny looking appearance. A closeup of the gills and spore print would be helpful. I wouldn't even give up on psathyrella as a possibility just yet.

They don't look Psathyrellaish to me. I think you have a mixed collection of Panaeolina foenisecii and Panaeolus subbalteatus(complex?).

Any mushroom from that pile which drops black spores should be considered psilocybian, though maybe only weakly.
