The species in question doesn't match the description of Stropharia ambigua which is known to have a margin adorned with hanging white veil remnants like in the photo below.

I'm guessing it's an active Psilocybe of the cyanescens complex. P. cyanofibrillosa?

Notice the intense bluing on this abort.

And the bluing on this young specimen.

They look like some active Psilocybe species to me.
What general area did you find these in?

LOL, they're definitely not cubensis. (notice they're growing on wood chips)

They were found in the San Francisco Bay Area back in January fruiting from some type of hard wood chips. They look similar to the new species Stamets mentions in Mycelium Running. He's calling this species the "Cyclone Psilocybe" because of it's spiral growth patterns on agar. This photo is from Myc. Running.

I was wondering if P. stuntzii was a possibility. Although they usually have veil remnants on the stem.

The mushrooms in the photos were cultivated. As you can see in this pic, they were grown in a tub.The pics were taken on 4/28/06 when fruiting began. The original outdoor patch was found back in November. Some wood chips and mycelium were transfered to a tub and fruiting resumed in April while temps were in the 70's.
