Light for grafts
    #5631184 - 05/15/06 02:18 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I have at at the moment about 20 grafted cacti (lophophora, ariocarpus, Trichocereus, astrophytum etc) in a table (40cmx100cm), with two fluorescent lights. The grafts are not growing at all, so I have to do something with the lights.

I am looking at the net for a complete solution about the lighting on cacti. Any site that sells lights for cacti grow ?

regular coolwhite florescants should be fine at 30 watts.
anything that makes the rootstock grow should work fine on the grafts.

maybe you just need to replace your tubes, they degrade alot over time but you dont realy see it.
when usingtubes for plants its usualy best to replace them once or twice each year...

And what is the PROPER distance between the lights and the grafted cacti ?
I think I got it at 70 cm. Is it too far?

mmm maybe, i have no experiance with grafting myself yet,
but my cacti and other plants seem to like the tubes at about 40cm.
70 sounds iffy, especialy if your tubes are old.

i think bringing them closer should definetly improve the situation.
