tripping in the Olympic Rainforest

i was just thinking about my cross-the-USA road trip last summer and the stand out day on that trek. My girlfriend and i were camping in Olympic National Park in Washington state toward the end of the trip. One day we decided to take some LSD and go hiking in the Hoh Rainforest. It was a gorgeous day, temperature around 75 degrees, nice breeze, gentle puffy clouds in the air.
We took the LSD about an hour before we arrived in the Hoh so we'd be into our trip when we started hiking. Perfect plan. As soon as we got out of the car and onto the trail it kicked in. We hiked along a crystal clear stream that had some pink salmon swimming in it. The first of many wonders we glared at. We were alone on the trail, it seemed nobody else was on earth but us. All that we could hear was the echoes of birds chirping. The wild flowers were like oracles shimmering throughout the shady woods. A million colors added a rainbow smear that was confusing and very clear at the same time. The trees in Hoh grow to huge proportions. We felt so small and buggish squirming through the enormous forest. At one point we entered a calm meadow and gasped at the amazing view of snow capped peaks above us, as the Olympic Mountains stood clear and strong all around. We came out to a placid lake with mirror water that reflected all of this....the color of the flowers, the towering evergreens, and the white top mountains. We yelled in glee, skipping stones, generally disrupting the beauty with cacophonous humanity. A hawk watched us from a high branch.
Later, as dusk set in, our trail took us to the ocean beach. Sea stacks with all kind of life clinging to them such as star fish, oysters, crabs, sea urchins, and snails amazed us as we hit the coming down plateau. The beach was vacant and we drew crazy pictures in the sand and jumped and played in the waves. As the greates finale, we sat on the beach and watched the sun set on the Pacific Ocean. At complete darkness we climbed back into our car and went back to our campground with the fondest memory of our lifetime. i highly recommend this place to everyone, even sober.

Wow, that sounds amazing. I've really wanted to go to the rainforests of the Pacific northwest, but sadly I don't get out there ever. I will try to make a trip, though, just not sure when. Sounds like a great time :-)
