Well after days and days of searching and finding nothing i was out in my backyard smoking a cigarette when my brother noticed a mushroom. We looked at and went holy shit its a fucking weilii just popping right up. Earlier around november we threw a bunch of decrepit weilii in that general area. We did this on purpose too. Finally found out it worked. Im incredibly stoked.

I knew someone who cut up a few welii spore prints and threw them in his yard, and the next season he had a patch. These mushrooms seem to be extremley hardy

Yeah ... you know I think outdoor cultivation is a LOT less sophisticated than many people think! Introduce spores to a suitable environment and bingo.
It may sound unbelievable but a few years back I mixed rotting old cubensis caps that were no good for (my friend's) consumption into a big bag of cow poop (sold for $2 as compost) and spread it around the soil in my back garden. You wouldn't believe it but by the end of the summer there were little cubies popping up. No sh!t at all.

I know nothing about either species, they don't grow in my part of the world. But I will say I have seen a a few photographs and I agree they don't look so much like weilli. They actually look a bit like Psilocybe caerulipes that are pictures in this thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/5625143/an/0/page/0
Probably not, like I said, I am totally unqualified to comment. Just a little observation...

Well they dont look like caeurlipes but my reason for that is because my camera and lighting is kind of off. Where as weilii's i would say have a much more profound blueing than caeurlipes.
Im almost certain they are weilii. Weilii's have a lot of different looks to them, depending on their environment.
Also Im positive that Weilii is an OFFICIAL woodloving mushroom in my opinion. Which is why i think they prefer acidic soil prone to loblolly pine needles and sweetgums.

Gumby said that weilii and caerulipes look similar, but mostly just from the top. the stems are certainly different.

agreed. BTW is that a bluefoot mycena in your avatar?
Also the Weilii's were growing off Cedar chips. Ive always believed that Weilii is a woodlover and its only reaffirmed my beliefs.

I'm not an expert but I know I can deny that weilii are exclusively wood lovers. But I know you did not say exclusive. They can burst forth from the earth in just straight up red clay. Even without pine straw. So it makes me wonder. But with a medium like pine straw, or decaying grass, or decaying wood, they can expedite the process of absorbing water, storing it in a network, and sending up pins. You mentioned today about the acidic nature loving of the weilii. I always tied them to the Bermuda and clay, pine straw and shade... But not how all that was acidic Acidic soil can be tied to Mile wide radius' zones, not just short walks Acid soil might be the key. I bet testing four or five lawns in specific neighborhoods with litmus paper strips would be a GREAT way to target potential spots.

Yes, congratulations....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I plan on burying half of all the weilii I find this year in my yard. The way I am doing it is simply using a shovel to take off the top layer of soil (only burying the weilii about an inch under ground) and the bermuda grass. I then water all patches and I have spread hydrated spores as well. Hopefully with any luck I'll have my own patches as well. So many people seem to doubt how hardy the weilii mushroom is....
On another note, from my experience, weilii bruise like crazy coming out of grass...but in the woodlands they don't bruise as much. I'm not sure if its because they're not exposed to the harshness of the environment or what. Also, the largest and healthiest weilii definately come out of pinestraw the most for me. Not to say I haven't seen huge healthy weilii in bermuda grass, but they seem to get very 'steroid-ish' when they have to fight there way through pinestraw and wooded areas...

Actually Lusid you have it backwards the woodlands bruise profuselycoming through the layers of pinestraw the caps will be completely silver. I sometimes find the stems so blue it looks green.

I have a side-by-side pic of 2 baby weilii from last season, showing one normal baby shroom, and a dried out baby weilii that was a solid, bright psily-blue (just made up a new color! ). I'll pull the picture off of my camera and post it sometime. I tried to transplant some loose mycelium from my weilii patch to my back yard last Fall. No signs of success so far, and my Heavenly blues didn't come back this year. Very disappointing.
