Went camping with a few shroomery pals in rural (like really rural) ohio this weekend. I had shit loads of fun; first time i've ever gone camping! and the company was the best i could have hoped for!
Well anyways we found a whole bunch of fungi, thought i'd post my pics.
Some cup fungi. When you blow on this fungi, after a couple of seconds, it spits spores back out at you. Very cool!
Some parasitic plant. not a fungi but looks damn cool.
don't remember the name of this one, but it tasted like watermelon rinds, and it was everywhere!!!
i think these are some boletes (sp).
a blury shot of some orange mycena.
A yellow morel i found. Had some contam on it. Still tasted pretty good!!
Psylocibe Caerulipes. Glad i found these. and there were very abundant! Might start to cultivate some soon, i have 2 prints.
and i took this one in the woods, just thought it was cool.
well i had a great time, met some very awesome and very smart people. I can't wait to camp again. And i found some morels and some bluefoots!!! what an amazing weekend. Hope you enjoyed the pix

Great pictures AsianYumYum
It was a pleasure meeting you this weekend. I agree with OHSBrave06 on the Polyporus squamosus ID.
Those scaley orange pins are Scaley Pholiota [Pholiota squarrosa] or possibly Sharply-scaly Pholiota [Pholiota squarrosoides]. The smell makes me think the former, which is not edible. Falcon said they could be eaten but caused bad gas. Hmmm...
I love that green pic. It makes me feel like a munchkin.

Nice pictures, AsianYumYum, the caerulipes picture is excellent. It was good to meet you.
Heres a picture of most of the mushrooms I brought back.

I think the litle purple one is an Omphalina, not sure though. There are four kinds of Polypores that have black stems.
These are two pictures that Shroomydan took, that are good canidates for picture of the month so is your caerulipes picture.

I have more pics will upload.

Asian Yumyum i was just wondering what kinda habitat you found the p.caruelipes in. A recent post from Shroomydan suggests that all his findings were near creeks or rives growin in with Japanese knot weed. We're you're found in japanese knot weed? Also i went hunting today after studying a few pics of japanes knot weed and couldnt find any Anyone know what kinda areas this plant grows around in lower michigan? Thanks Mitch

well it was growing near a creek, one large enough to be kind of hard to cross at most points. There wasn't any knotweed by these, they were just growing on buried wood in the basic underbrush. really not much more i remember you might ask shroomydan he was there too. Good hunting!

Nice pic falcon - I was looking forward to seeing that one.
I was standing right with you and shroomydan when it was taken.
A caerulipes pin next to a blue egg, with a morel growing a foot away! I noticed the morel as you guys were checking out the egg.
Blue foots, morels, and a robin egg. Can't beat that!

Hey ihaveacow,
This link http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...rue#Post4173375 is a good description of the habitat.
Look for mostly Sycamore trees, and Elms growing together in this kind of valley, with mixed hardwoods on the slopes to either side. Look for soil that is rich sandy loam.

Seriously...LOL... I've asked different people in PMs and in this thread; what were the temps like in Ohio the past few weeks? 60's 70's 80's? how about at night?

I think they were pretty low. Must have been 60's most of the time.
Most of them were found in very moist areas where things stay wet for a long time.
The area was pretty hilly and mountainous.
At night it was really cold. I bet it dropped into the 50's or even 40's a couple nights.
They seem to like areas that are cool, shady, and moist - with lots of undergrowth. More were found on the ground than on the wood itself. A lot of times they are right near piles of sticks and wood though.
