What substrate?

Alright, all of the 23 jars (pints/WBS) i had inoculated are about 95% and I am gonna case in the next day or so...
So its a no go on poo... So i am gonna have to go w/straw for now... Is there anything out there short of poo (that is easily obtained) that will give this juice for more than one flush? Ive heard about worm castings? If I use pure straw will this give a noticeable drop in potency? For a monotub all i need is a hole w/polyfill in the top and hole with polyfill in the bottom and mist daily right?

ive done my fair share of tub reading... thanx for the info, I saw those coir casing pics earlier and didn't know if this was a widely used substrate... Pasturize it or microwave it? PC?

damn, no casing? Is it that resistent to contams... Isn't it relatively nutrient free?

I use coir 50/50 with straw and by itself.
I pasteurize the coir. If not, I pressure cook it to sterilize it.
for bulk (this application) I pasteurize it. for casing (I add 10% to the 50/50+ tek) I sterilize it.

straw WILL give multiple GREAT flushes.
If you know how to use it!
i dunno where everyone came up with the one flush wonder straw concept.
i usually use straight straw, and get AT LEAST 3 and as many as 5 good flushes.
and ive never had a complaint about my potency off of my straw grows.
of course i grow in bags ( until casing time ) so my substrate is a little deeper then most.... 10-12 inches.
Thats a GREAT thing about bags, you can get insane substrate levels, as they colonize in the bag in SMALLER quantities, so there is no heat issue.. by the time ya case em, they are colonized and your just combining em
plus i put a wet verm layer on bottom, as well as the casing layer

negligible difference.
found the straw mix to colonize faster.
got a slightly better BE from the coir solo.
yeah, don't like casing contams? Give the wax paper tek a shot. RogerRabbit hooked up a great explaination.
