im thinking of making some syringes with a couple drops of spore solution, i only have a little bit of my syringe left so im going to slit half of what i already have between 1 lc and 1 colonised jar(only about 25 popcorn grains) at least then i will have a back up if one would to fail.
from this i will inject a couple drops of spores-this would contain hundreds if not thousands into each. i will then make 16 jars, 8 of brf and 8 of popcorn im predicting loses so im thinking ahead.
i will use about 4-6 in a terranium and invitro the rest that survive
and all of this from a couple drops isn't mushroom growing fun wish me luck.
just need to get some supplies

Cloning is when you take tissue from a mushroom in order to duplicate one genotype. If you have a really good strain (heavy rhizo, fast grower, potent, whatever) that you want to isolate, you'd want to clone.
When you grow from spores, what happens is two spores meet and boom, myc grows. That's my super high-tek version of what transpires. Actually, that might even be wrong but that's my current understanding of the process.
But when two spores meet, both spores contribute their own DNA and so what grows (dikaryotic mycelium) will have a different genetic make-up. Which means it isn't what you started with.
For most growers, obviously, the spore method works just fine. But when you want to get all antsy-in-the-pantsy about this hobby, and you know what to look for (I don't), then you get into cloning.
Maybe that helped. Maybe it didn't. But I hope it did. =)
