Dung: To Pack or not to pack

I have read from a few sources about pressing dung down into the bins after mixed with rye, yet from toher sources it seems like it does better more aireated. What is the scoop on this?

I am sure others opinions will differ from mine, but I recommend compressing, ONLY if the substrate is plain pasteurised straw. In fact, dung IMO seems to colonize better if it is broken up as much as possible(it may just be because of the crappy crap dude gets).
