humidity question using perlite

Well i'm using perlite to humidify my terranium and I was wondering why it is not looking very humid inside there, the perlite is wet and about 1 1/2 inchs tall. It's been a week and i'm not noticing any wet spots except for where the perlite touchs, is this normal?

perlite will hold humidity very close to 100%
perlite is like set it and forget it for humidity more or less.
I wouldn't be worried about that.

^^^ Yeah you'll have atleast 95% humidity.
Go buy (or steal) a hygrometer.

those hygrometers suck dont' even bother stealing it. it they get effed up super fast and are generally pretty useless. just just have to know that your wet perlite is getting you 100% ish rH.
edit im talking about the digital ones that your likely to get you can get good ones are cigar shops but those you arn't likely to be able to steal.

What is it with you suggesting people steal their supplies lately? Knock it off. Please.
It really isn't cool. I'm proud to be associated with this forum and the people in it. Telling budding mycologists to steal to fund their hobby is completely low-life and definitely not the image the mods want.
It's nice that you've contributed $$ to support the forum but that isn't an excuse.

Go up to walmart and pick up a hydrometer/thermometer combo theyre over in the lighting section and are like $7. works pretty good and if too much humidity gets inside it will be kinda hard to see the numbers but if that happens just take it out of the FC and let it sit for a while. if your using 1 1/2 in of perlite i might recommend putting a little more in there at least the height of your hands worth that should help hold that high humidity for longer

You want at least 4 to 5 inches of damp not wet perlite. Make sure to strain the water otherwise it wont evaporate properly. I don't think 1.5 inches will provide enough volume to provide the desired humidity.
I assume your using a shotgun style fruiting chamber? If so, you have many 1/4 inch holes on all 6 sides of the chamber right? If not, do this and you will maintain proper RH along with some FAE.

The fruiting chambers you are seeing with mass amounts of liquid around all the sides are cause of condensation or the differing of temperature inside and outside your fruiting chamber. The action of condensation isn't necessarily a sign of high relative humidity.
