Problem with growth... (pics)

Today is day 6 or 7, I believe.. My jars are in this incubator I constructed:

(a lid goes over top this)
and the only jar that shows any signs of significant growth, or growth at all for that matter is the one with the black electrical tape over it: (close up)

What is wrong??
using brf/vermiculite pf tk (plan to case) pressure cooked at 10 PSI for 45min and left overnight to cool before inoculation
also, temps are in the mid 80's in the incubator.

You should start to worry after about 2 weeks of no growth, some of my jars colonized faster than others as well as showed signs of mycleium, in the end they all turned out well, it just takes time.

should I be concerned at all? should I be opening the lid to give them FAE often?

wait for a while.
10 psi for 45 minutes is also probably not enough.
The center of those cakes may not be sterilized.
where in the incubator is the thermometer or probe???

the thermometer is next to the jars, not in the water. It isn't in the first pic but it says mid 80's. what time would you recommend for 10 psi? (thats as high as my pressure cooker goes) I was afraid of p cooking them any longer because I didn't want to dry out the substrate. Also, should I be putting a rag at the bottom (so my jars sit on top) of the pressure cooker while pcooking?

I'm assuming a 4.2 quart pc or something...
I would go like 1.5-2 hours personally at 10psi.
no rag for me either, just have water in there and wrap that foil tight on top of the jars.
after 3 weeks (maybe 2) is when you should be nervous about no growth in jars. If one is growing you should be fine.
Did you shake your syringe????

well no growth for 6-7 dayz ..some times i get that ...some times my substarte is too dry from the over pc-ing and dont grow at all,but i alwayz do 15 psi for a hour..start makin like 20 jars ...then when you do have a few thats no growth just hack em and make new ones...the problem .when you makin a few jars is that when 1-3 is contaminated .and your left with one good jar left ..ytheres a great feeling of dissapointment.and hope for the one jar to overcome such feats.where as if you had 10 jars 5 could be contaminates and the other 5 would be ok...and you basically break even ...one time i made 8 and 3 was good then got tricoderma.at 50 percent..then the 2 failed immediatley 3 was ok untill 75 percent..and bam ..>i waitin a whole month for crap...So i refine my sterile techniques.LOL

I have cooked BRF jars at 10 psi for an hour with a 90% success rate. I think 2hours is a little too long, but I guess better safe then sorry.

pressure cooking should not dry out the jars at all.
did you use foil when pressue cooking?
don't be injecting water just yet, but maybe.

if you inoculated with spores 7 days isn't that long really just be patient. If you need to inject more water (def should be last resort) just sterilize it in a jar and suck it into a sterile syringe and inject it. stay sterile!!

The slow growth makes it sounds like the cakes are a little dry, but I'd agree and not do anything for at LEAST 2 1/2 weeks. This happened to me a month ago and I luckily was able to inject more water with fantastic results. I was still able to get 12 out of 12 jars, I reinjected distilled water (15 ml=1 TBSP.) by following all original evironmental sterilization teks - wore mask, gloves and wiped the jar lids down with lysol. This is where I got creative, I mixed a sol of 91% isop. with a 2 sec. spray of lysol to wipe down the needle after every jar. I'd dip paper towel in the mix, wipe the needle, then wipe the needle with a dry portion of the paper towel (the inside part that wasn't in air long) so no liquid got mixed.
The problem is, I didn't know how much water to add. I only guessed. You don't want enough to settle anywhere. Just enough to soak into the mixture without looking too damp. If it's glistening and looks like you can squeeze a lot of water out, it's too wet. I started with 10 cc's, waited a min., 10 more and hit it again with another 20 cc's. It doesn't matter if you hit the same spot as the spores. Try not to hit the mycelium - it may stunt the growth.
