hey

if a cake is almost fully done - bright white mycel- and has some small orage specs on the bottom of the jar, is that the "myc piss"?

i know a pic would be helpful, but this is hypothetical?

if the cake itself looks great, would it be contamn?

Myc. excretions are usually yellowish but you might call the orangeish. When you birth the cake you should smell that fresh odor of mushies. If the orange spots grow at all wipe them with a tissue very gently. If there's a stain it is contam'ed.

sorry to bump back up but the orange seems to be a reappearing thing. spots of orange the size of a needle head on the bottoms of jars only
everything else looks good.
def orange, no mistaking it for yellow.

If you haven't birthed it, give it a day or so and watch the spots. If it's a contam., it will grow rapidly. If it smells funky when you birth it, that's also a tell-tale sign. GL.

That sounds like flakes of vermiculite maybe. If it's not on the cake, you are good to go.

just for good measure in the future:

put a 1/8 inch layer of dry verm on the bottom of your jars too.
this will soak up anything down there and not let contams have the upper hand.
