Some of my shrooms caps look very cracked at the top, is this caused by low humidity? or is it just something that happens every now and then?

The answer is both.Sometimes it just happens, most of the time its a humidity problem.

Low humidity usually. The fruits are growing faster than the water can replenish.

I always get cracked caps when I grow South Americans. It seems to be a trait they have once matured.

The cracked caps in Hippies picture look very similar to mine. That is, with the cracks on the top of the cap as opposed to it splitting on the sides of the cap.

I was just throwing in another possibility. If yours look like Hip's pics, I'd say it probably was the humidity being too low.

The cracked caps in hippie's picture show the effects of low humidity. The split caps in fooman's picture show the effect of rapid growth. Split caps are not caused by either high or low humidity. RR
