Hey I just bought my first pc off ebay here it is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4461727166&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT and I was wondering if it will hold atleast 2 quart jars. That would be all the spawn I would need for my monotub setup. Also do you think it would be a good idea to get a impulse sealer and some filter patch bags instead of trying to do jars? I recently harvested my first bulk grow of shrooms the strain was equador growin in a monotub so check out the pictures in my gallery. Some of the pics are of a pf cake grow but the ones with the huge mushies are grown off of hpoo and they were way more potent!

use pint jars not quarts.
that looks too small for quarts or fp bags.
get a bigger pc like a mirro 22 quart and you're in business for whatever you want.
I suggest All American Pressure Cookers though

ok thanks for the suggestions I was thinking the same idea with the quart jar. And why did you say dont do it would it not sterlize it correctly? If not I guees I just do pint jars. 3 pints would be about 1 1/2 quarts right? Ok thats all I got thanks man.

I'm thinking sideways could easliy throw off moisture content in that pressue cooker.

ahh good thinking. So I guess Ill try the pint jars. How much can you get these for at walmart and should I use micropore tape, polyfill,or tyvek for the jar lid filter. Also do you think agar's super spawn would be a good idea or should I just stick with good ole wbs.

wbs works fine.
jars are like 10 bucks for twelve of them
lid setup is your choice, I use agar's, but snaggletooth has a fine setup there.

Hi I just recieved the pressure cooker I bought and it didnt come with instructions on how to use it. So basically how do you set the pc to 15 psi with that weight and does it have a safety on it to tell you if it is above 15psi? Also what do you put on the bottom since it didnt come with a rack?

you probably have the silver ball or the black bell
silver ball fully assembled=15 psi. can be broken down to 10 and 5.
black bell= 10 psi. cannot be changed.
use a small towel instead. why didn't it come with a rack???

Radiant, all you have to do is place the lid on (and secure it, however it's done for that model, should be obvious). The weight will "press down" on the valve and the steam will lift it once the internal pressure of the cooker hits 15 PSI. You want the stove set such that the weight rocks back and forth and a little steam is released but not blowing out like mad.
As for the bottom I'd STRONGLY recommend using something like a metal cooling rack or, if you can't find that, one of those disposable aluminum pie tins. Put a good deal of vents in it and place it into the cooker inverted. Anything that will (a) raise the jars off the bottom of the PC, (b) won't burn and (c) can withstand the pressure and temps of the PC is fine. I would like to stress (b) because VERY recently I placed a small towel into my PC and it ran dry while I wasn't paying attention. The towel burned and the house smelled like sh*t for two days.
As for the jars, that's a 4 pt PC so I think you'll be lucky to fit in three. More likely 2 but if you can do three, more power to ya. I would recommend using pint jars like other people have suggested. This is because it is easier for heat to get to the center of a pint jar than it is to get into the center of a quart jar. A couple of pint jars will finish sterilizing at 15 PSI at around an hour (a bit of overkill just to make sure those !@#$ing endospores are kaput).
I don't think there would be much of a problem laying them sideways. One of the vet growers here has a tek (?) that shows quart jars stacked on their sides but worry about that when you have a bigger PC.
