Pachanoi Logs?
    #5622334 - 05/12/06 07:13 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

When using the Erowid method of preparation (found here http://www.erowid.org/plants/cacti/cacti_preparation5.shtml ) does it make a difference on the age of the specimen.  Would it be best to use an older heavier log or newer greener growth?  Any input would be kindly appreciated....

The only information I can personally add is that the older a cactus segment is, the woodier the core. The core is pretty much useless for "practical purposes" so consider getting end tips if buying by weight. If, on the other hand, you are purchasing by length, the older segments will likely have a much greater amount of flesh despite the presence of a thick central core.

Buena suerte.

I have read that traditionally older specimens are used by natives for there "power".
In my experience with the plant, older specimines had way more green flesh. Im not so sure what makes small or large specimens any different besides that.

buying them by weight may not be a good idea but i can imagine the alkaloidal content would be higher in an older plant
