Hey, I didn't add a casing layer and starting to fruit already, the question is do I want to mist the pins or is it only for the casing layer? kind of a stupid question but it's a strange situation. Thanx in advance

try your hardest not to mist the pins.
maybe just the walls for now until you can get below the caps to the casing. misting the casing now would surely hit the pins. but maybe not if you're super careful

Since they are already starting to pin isn't it too late to add a casing layer?

sorry, forgot about the casing not being there.
yeah, too late for a casing layer I believe.
do not mist the mycelium, just mist the sides of the fruiting chamber.

What are the sideeffects? And how bad are they? if you do mist in the FC and some mist falls on the pins? Is it just myth or is it definet that pins abort due to misting?

I wouldn't be too worried. I have pins that get some light misting quite frequently and my abort rate is negligible.
Just don't intentionally wet them down.

Misting will not abort pins. Leaving the pins wet in stale air after misting will cause them to abort. Set your mister for a very fine mist, then spray up into the air so the mist falls gently on the pins/substrate. Mist only if they're drying out, otherwise just let them grow. Be sure to fan well or otherwise up the air exchange until the moisture either soaks into the pins or evaporates off.
You can also inject water directly into the substrate with a clean syringe. RR

So true! You guys need to think what happens in nature does nature stop raining? Do the fruits only come after the fog lifts? Misting can only hurt pins when they're first developing and the mist has to be heavier than we will ever recommend. As long as there is sufficient FAE's there will be no problems only perfect conditions for primodia formation.

When I spray anything that is fruiting, I give it a rather vigerous fanning, until the caps look dry/almost dry

Heres somthing interesting. I think about 3 days ago, I noticed my small casing was very dry, yet it had alot of mycelial growth ontop, I misted it heavely anywayz. Well, it started pinning yesterday and now there really setting off. What I noticed was that the surface kinda matted up though, the mycelium that is, but still didnt seem to stop anything. Go figure, I guess I was lucky I didnt mist when the primordia was first forming.??

How do you tell if a pin is drying out?
