Yooooo... so i was pondering about taking my 60/40 coir/verm casing mixture and mixing in some nutrients like either brown rice flower or something.... Then in my casing, bottom of pan 1/4 inch with regular 60/40, then grain spawn, then 1/4 - 1/2 inch of the 60/40 w/ nutrients, topped with like another 1/4 - 1/2 of regualr 60/40. What you think?

I think it'd be a substrate and not a casing layer.
Casing layers aren't suppose to have any nutes.
Superdank .
Just gave me a new vocab. word.

Nutrition is determined in substrate, not casing layer. You don't want a casing layer full of nutrients, that's just giving mold a head start on you.

Defeats the casing layers main purpose as Gnostic said is simply adding more substrate. Superdank!

Yes, what they all said above is right on. In addition, 60/40 coir verm is already too nutritious for a casing layer. Use peat/verm or jiffy mix for the casing layer. You also don't case the bottom of a tray, but the top. RR

That sounds like a damn good idea!!! Just be sure after it fully colonizes over, you add a real casing layer.
