casing pulling away from sides
    #5617786 - 05/11/06 03:48 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

After my first flush the casing started to pull away from the sides. My casing is a 50/50 verm and peat with 15% oyster shell. What is the cause of this and how do i fix it??

Thanks.

It is just caused by water depletion from the fruits. Perfectly normal. There are prevention techniques, but mostly it just relies on your water delivery (misting). Anyway, just place some more casing between the sub and container to prevent side pinnage.

I just line my casing with tin foil, as recommended by agar I believe. That way, when the casing shrivels up, it brings the tin foil in with it so that it never side pins.

yeah, but aluminum is digested by the mycelium and gets holes in it. The fruits will adopt the aluminum from the mycelium and it will transfer to you.

aluminum causes alzheimer's disease or something.

All this info I believe came from RR, try using a black trash bag instead of aluminum foil, or maybe I'm totally wrong.
