I'm sure this is okay

...but I'd figured I'll ask for peace of mind

This is my 2nd casing, and it's currently fruiting. I have one pin that just monstered up, it popped up about a day before the others (had me worried about a shitty pinset, ha), and the veil broke yesterday. This one is about 5 inches tall with a nice healthy cap, and my others are maybe an inch, two at max. It is ok for me to go ahead and pick this early bird, right? Also, on my subsequent flushes, will I always get this early pin? It's more of an annoyance than anything else, making my casing layer a lil dryer than I would like cuz I don't like to mist as often once they are growing. I don't want aborts (haven't had any yet), and I figured a good dunk after the flush should help out.

Thanks in advance for replies.

most of the time you get an early pin. it uses up most of the nutrients for that flush in the one mushie. what i do is cut it off at the base with a pair of nail scissors. this allows the rest to keep growing yet utilize the nutrients for new primordia. it kinda evens out the playing field.
