Syringe size

I'm gonna go attempt to get some syringes from the grocery store pharmacy. What is the best needle and pluger size? I know biggger is better, but I don't know the terminology. I don't want them giving me shit and eyeing me like a heroin addict.

I know they will be behind the pharmacy counter, but do you think they won't carry that size? Where's the best place to get big ass needles?

i'm pretty sure they won't have that size or be behind the counter. most pharmacies i know of do a needle exchange program where you bring in a used needle and they give you a new one.
these needles aren't the size for shooting dope, they are much bigger.

Crap, I'm getting sick of waiting for stuff in the mail. You'd think every town would have a mycology supplies store. Jk, but it would be nice

My local farm supply store has a full range of syringe sizes and needle sizes right off the shelf.
I like 20cc syringes with 1.5" 16 gauge needles.
I'd try there before a pharmacy. There are tones of excuses you could use. Just say that your picking them up for your uncle, whose farm you work at.

Fot me it depends on how many jars/bags I'm doing and how thick the LC grew. For 1-7 jars 10-20cc Luer Lock 18g needle works fine. For all other occasions I like a large 60+cc syringe with a 16g needle.
Sometimes different strains grow real thick as LCs. In which case I'd go with the 16g regardless, since it is wider and easier to suck through. 1.5" seems to be standard length, but if I ever saw one longer, I'd buy it.

If you want to go big...
Lambriarvet.com I believe sells 140ml syringes.
If you make fp bags and mix them dry, you can use a whole 140ml of liquid culture for one bag, than boom....done.

I agree, except anytime I've gone to a feed store, they never even asked any questions. The guy at the store always says, "You sure you don't want the 22 gauge? They hurt alot less." I think he thinks I use them for steroids or something.

Thanks for the info people. I tried a few locations around here and all I got was a 10ml plunger meant for injecting stuff into your mouth. no one has 18g needles. guess i gotta wait for the mailman again.

I found an excellent (est) 18ga syringe sold as a "flavor injector." While I can't find a link to my specific model, here is something darned close.
Here is another great example. A run to the local mall and all the gourmet/kitchen places out to turn up something useful.

Check these guys out. They have 16ga x 4" Luer lock needle. They also have syringes at a buck a piece, but theirs won't stand up to the PC (I just store them in a jar of isopropyl until I need them). http://www.inksupply.com/accessory.cfm Scroll about halfway down the page.

If you are talking about the ones on THIS page, they are luer lock. They just come pre-assembled instead of having the needles and syringes individually sealed.
