Hard to grow Australians
    #561738 - 02/24/02 05:08 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

Has anyone had any luck cultivating wild Australian Psilocybes at home? I have tried with two different strains (without positive identification I would say that they are likely australiana/eucalypta/subaerigenosa) and haven't had much luck. I know that I have had some contamination problems but even the jars that aren't contaminated seem to stop growing after a short period. I am using the pf tek to the letter but something must be amiss. I am sure that someone out there has done this successfully, does anyone have any suggestions?

Heres my little tek.
Go to the patch and pic as much of the colonised wood as possible, as well as wood from the surrounding area.
There is no need to be sterile as these species are all woodlovers, so rather than using grains, i just stick to wood.
Just mix up some spawn bags or jars of the colonised wood and moist verm mixed with some alder chips or sawdust.
Leave that to colonise for about 2 monthes at which time you will hopefully get some invirto pins. At this stage add some soaked cardboard and make an outdoor bed.
Thats all ive done so far, so ill let you know how i go...
