Drum circles

Anybody go to these things?
A couple of newish friends of mine invited me to a drum circle at this really cool beach. When they told me what goes on at a drum circle (hippies playing drums, smoking pot, and dancing) I decided that there is no way in hell I'd go to this thing. Its pretty funny that friends of mine could be into completely different things than I am.
Would you go to a drum circle?

I've been involved in many drum circles and I'm sure I will be in many many more.

They are pretty bad. The drum circles around here are comprised of mainly high schoolers. And fat chicks dancing.

My friends and I have been known to have a drum circle of sorts. We basically just sit on our balcony doing copious amounts of drugs and try to stay in rhythm, pretty amusing. We certainly dont have spectators though, or dancers or some shit.

This is the main drum circle for this town. It's a weekly deal when the weather is nice since ...hell if i know.
There are a few 20-30 somethings, but for the most part it has been over run by highschoolers who have just discovered pot and the dead.
I have never been a fan of drumcircles though. It is just not my thing. weird

Well, i like poetry and stuff but I think I'd be uncomfortable in a stoney drum circle. I've never understood how people can smoke weed as a social drug with strangers. Then again, I know that I'm not a 'normal' person.

I think in the more open drum circles the smoking is discrete. At least that is the case with the one that I'm familiar with. There is no emphasis on it, as much as there is on the beat and the socialization.

Sounds like you could use a drum circle, so you can take your troubles out with a rythmic beating.
Moose, you have obviously been to some whack assed drum circles, because EVERY single drum circle that I have ever been to is very open with it's use of herb.

The local drumcircle here in my town is large. Every week we have a turn out of 100-300 people ranging in ages from 15-50, it is truly a great experience. My only qualm is John Law stuffing his damn nose in other peoples' business, we have a weekly turn out of a couple bike cops, a cop in a golf cart and usually a few walkers, their very prescence is a defilement of a peaceable gathering...
