Mycelium stopped colonizing
    #5616873 - 05/11/06 11:52 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I have a few jars in my incubation chamber and 2 of the jars have stopped colonizing. I thought maybe i should just wait it out, but its been over a month and the mycelium hasnt even progressed. What could i do to get it started again?

is i getting gas exhcange thorugh a filtered hole? if it is really all you can do it take the colonized parts and make a casing. you can normally save it if its colonized enough to even bother spending time to do this.

If you notice that the mycelium is getting really thick and forming barrier of sort there might be a bacterial infection in the substrate. Any bad smell??

Sounds like not enough air exchange. What temperature are you incubating at?

There are holes on the top o fht jars and is covered with a coffee pot filter for air exchange. I was thinking of taking pieces off the the colonized part and using that to colonize other jars.

have you tried flipping the jars upside down???

co2 is heavier than oxygen so if you flip the jars the co2 will sinhk out the holes and start recolonizing.(most of the time) unless you have wetsp[ots. pictures tell 1000 words.

When ever a jar isn't colonizing for me I just take it out Brush off the uncolonized part very well and make sure to spray some H2O2 on it and its usually fine
