Some question I should probbley know the answer to

Hey guys,
Ok here is the deal, I had 12 jars done all with brown rice and verm. I tired twice now to case using the 50/50 mix and both times I end up with green mold all through. So now I think I'm going to try a casing of staright verm. so my question is how much water should I add to the mix? Always another question is I have 3 cakes going the one, is going good with one huge shroom coming off of it, but the other 2 ckaes dont seem to be doing anything but I do notice they are getting a little tint to them on the top of the cake? anyway have any clues how I can get them going or what the yellow tint might be? Thanks for the help guys

yellow tint is probably slight water damage; should be ok
make SURE your temps are 73 degrees or more and theyll grow very fast.
staright verm works well for most that use it; although 50/50+ is more recommended. do 50/50; add 1 stick of crayola chalkboard chalk and add water till its fairly wet. now microwave this on high for 5 or 8 min or so till its FUCKING hot. not just hot; it wants to be damp when it comes out not moist anymore. micing will lose some moisture. do the same if you decide to use straight verm; microwave it i mean not add chalk.

ok with the straight verm how much water do I waqnt to add and how thick should I make the caseing layers? thanks again

add water until it wont hold anymore. put the verm in a bowl and add water and stir until a small puddle forms at the bottom of teh bowl (no more than 1/4 or 1/8 an inch of standing water) but you do want some there cos it will evaporate when you mic it. keep your substrate about 2 to 3 inches and your casing layer 1.5 inches. after you see mycellium poking thru after 2 or 3 days of incubation; mist it good and place it i your terrarium.
