Jack Links sucks, so does this stuff Peco Bill's. I like McSweeneys and Oberto. The best is when you go buy real jerky from a meat shop though.

Screw jacks link.

There is a place here in town that sells their own homemade jerky. They have 2 levels of spiceyness and also offer buffalo jerky.

Its like 6 bucks a bag though.and 8 for the buffalo.

The place is called jerky joes.

Its worth the price though,it is so fucking good.

Absolutely!!

I make the best beef jerky I've ever had. Sweet & hot, perfect texture, very addictive. :drooling:

Damn!! Now I have to go get a couple of eye of round roasts and break out the slicer, marinades and dehydrators.

Who's the bastard that put this thread up??

Add me to the list of "home jerkers".  I also will be digging out the dehydrator after reading this thread...

And for those of you who make your own jerky heres a trick to try....ground beef!  Thats right, good old hamburger.  Get the leanest you can find (95% lean or better), mix in the spices/marinades/flavors that you enjoy, press it out into thin slabs, and dry away!  I was skeptical the first time I tried it but it works quite well and is suprisingly good if you get some good ground beef.  Of course its not as good as a nicely sliced london broil but it is a cheaper/easier alternative and it will suprise you.

all the store bought jerky sucks the big one. oberto, is the big suck. i mean, seriously. all that bag shit is whack

the best jerky i used to get was when i was a kid, in the stores they had the tubes with a strip of jerky for about $1.19 or so.. now that was the goods. Sadly, it was replaced by the flat "sheets" of jerky that they sell in stores. the sheets are good, but not nearly as good as the stuff from the tube.

i have some habenero #2 jerky here. it's not so much hot as it is painfull.

Okay guys;

I sliced up over twelve pounds of roast, mixed up my secret marinade and now I'm waiting for the meat to trade its juices with the marinade.

30-40 hours and I'll start dehydrating it... I honestly enjoy using my GardenMaster & SnackMaster more to do beef jerky than to dry shrooms.

I'll PM those who who haven't left me an addy to send to as soon as it's ready to ship.

The samples will be around 1-2 ounces each. Just smelling the marinade is making me :drooling:.

I've made 5 batches of jerky since I first read this thread and to all of you jerky lovers I definitely recommend getting a dehydrator. Store bought jerky doesn't even compare with home made goodness, and it costs 3 or 4 times as much.

Well, i guess its technically a top round steak(so rump), since its only a london broil if you broil it.

Well, not neccesarily true... There are very specific cuts that are labeled "London Broil" one is a particular shoulder cut (flavorful, but not very tender or juicy), the other is a small section of the rump where the meat is extremely flavorful and juicy. Anyone who'd make jerky out of rump-cut "London Broil" would be oh, so very wrong to do that to such a fine cut of beef.

One Nesco GardenMaster (with 4 trays) dries twice as much beef in half the time as one Nesco SnackMaster with 6 trays.

I run them both side-by-side.

Nesco makes the best food dehydrators on the market.

PM me for my PO box and you can send money orders instead.

I need to go buy a shitload of roast beef and marinade and get someone to design a banner ad to put up here and on weed sites.

Damn, I may even get a domain for this...

Maybe www.gourmetbeefjerky.com or something.

I don't eat  beef, but I do a a killer smoked salmon that almost doesn't taste like fish. Kinda like a fish jerky.. I didn't read the whole thread, so I don't know if yer secret recipe was in there, but brown sugar, kosher salt, ginger, garlic, mustard, onion powder, black pepper and beer are a good start for my smokings... + :bigweed:

I had a salt bagel from jew york, the salt was overbearing, I had to scrape it off.

I do the same thing with pretzels, the residual saltiness is perfect, though.

Bagels from New York are orgasmic, I've only had them once, when my neighbors were visiting family up there and brought'em down.

Damn!! Now I have to go get a couple of eye of round roasts and break out the slicer, marinades and dehydrators.

Who's the bastard that put this thread up??

I got some of his jerky in the mail last year.  Really good job.  Man I want some jerky now.

And though it's kinda off-topic, major respect to Oberto Turkey Jerky. Oh Boy!

All commercially made jerky kinda sucks. I suppose it's better than nothing, but I wouldn't waste the money on it after making my own.

Store bought jerky is :puke:

Sorry, not true.  Teriyaki is sweet, especially honey-teriyaki or pineapple-teriyaki.

I bet you're thinking "soy sauce".

Did you get a sample of my beef jerky back when? It's sweet-hot, not at all salty and is marinated in 4 kinds of teriyaki marinade.
