Cultivating Agaricus Bisporus - am I doomed to failure??
    #5614292 - 05/10/06 07:04 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

Hey guys,

Let me say first up, I know nothing about this and I am inexperienced cultivating mushrooms. I've grown a few Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms from cakes and casings, but tripping doesn't interest me much and I wanted to grow something more useful (for me, I never have trouble offloading my little blue friends!).

Anyway, my plan is pretty basic and totally experimental. Lorbitherize's thread detailing how he got bisporus mycelium growing in a PF-style cake jar inspired me. Surely if I can get mycelium growing I can case it in an appropriate substrate in a large tray outdoors and hope for the best??

I was hoping to inoculate so honey water this afternoon with A.Bisporus spores. Then once (if) I got a good amount of mycelial growth, create some mycelium syringes and inoculate some large grain jars. And then case them in a large tray of substrate (in the garden). Proposed substrate would be some mix of vermiculite, grains, straw and horse poop.

Do I have any hope? In my newbie enthusiasm I thought it may just be that simple, but I haven't been able to find much information on it on The Internet at all...

What temperate ranges are ideal for incubation and fruiting?
