An old friend of mine messages me on myspace half an hour ago writes:
hey man i got a question for ya. i found these shrooms in my back yard. and i heard that if you boil them and they turn blue they are ok to eat. the were big and white and had a white skirt. and they turned blue when i boiled them. so let me know what ya know. peace.
So I tell him they are probably poisonous(We live in louisiana) Then he tells me that my other friend,"bob" drank some of the tea. I keep telling them how serious it is but he said "Im feeling fine man I only drank a little bit" What kind of mushrooms do you guys think they are and what should I do because they obviously arent concerned.

Lepiota/Amanita... Definitely two genera you don't want to experiment with.

Try to get a better description of the mushrooms in question.
Let them know that eating unidentified mushrooms is a very dangerous practice.
In some cases, mushroom poisoning effects are not apparent until weeks after the fact. And by then it could be too late for anything medical attention can provide.
Let your buddies know that this is nothing to be hesitant about. If they start to feel sick than get them to a hospital along with samples (if you have them) of the mushrooms in question.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were C. molybdites in which case your friend may experience gastrointestinal problems. There is always the possibility they consumed something even more dangerous. I hope they saved a specimen or two, in the event of poisoning it would be handy to identify the toxins. You should inform them ASAP not to consume mushrooms from their back yard. Give them the full out nightmare scenario in hopes of preventing such folly in the future.

Dude, the description of that mushroom could easily include the most deadly mushrooms known.
I'm not sure about the boiling and turning blue part though - never heard of that before!
Your friends need to take that very seriously, especially if they start to feel in the least bit ill. If I were you I would email them these pages and insist that they read them...
If they recognise the mushroom they ate as either of these (especially the first one) they should seek medical attention immediately.

I hope your mate is okay, fingers crossed he will experience no ill effects and come out okay. But still send them these links, because if he is okay he might develop a false sense of security.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The green gills could look blue to one who is inexperienced and overly optimistic. This poisonous mushroom is also far more likely to be found in a Louisiana backyard than one of the deadly Amanitas which would not appear blue under any circumstance.

Yeah you found me out. I made this whole post up just to be cool and cause I like attention. A lot of people are that stupid, the people that die from eating poisonous mushrooms every year. Anyway they have samples of the mushroom and he said he took 5 sips of what was mostly kool aid and water and if he starts to feel sick in any way he will go to the hospital with the samples.

Do they look like the pictures in the links I posted?
If you eat a Destroying Angel or a Death Cap (even one bite), by the time you feel sick it's usually too late. Read the last link I posted above.

He thinks that it is Chlorophyllum molybdites, but just to make sure I told him to get another one from his backyard and take a pic I will post as soon as I get it.

Please tell your friend to consult a doctor immediately, and also pray that you did not consume one of the deadly amanita's, Amanitas contain deadly amatoxins.
Green gilled lepiota contains high amounts of muscarine no?
Please tell your friends to consult a doctor to avoid potential liver damage.

Fuck that shit! Luckily it doesnt sound like a death cap (with the "blueing") , try to get them to take a few pics, of the gills ect too.
Shit people do some crazy things. Hopefully they are sweet and will use this as a lesson.
Here's hoping it isnt a phalloides.

I have read that parboiling C. molybdites takes out most of the toxins, rendering the mushrooms edible (to some, not everybody though).
Some people get sick from eating Green Gills, and some people do not.

Well I hope he is okay ... how do you know they were definitely molybdites?
I really hope for your mate's sake you read those links I posted and made sure it was not the first mushroom I linked to. This is from the third link I posted:
"The next stage of amatoxin poisoning is particularly insidious, and its existence probably accounts for many of the fatalities: There is a period of apparent remission, in which the victim feels better. This period can last for two to three days, and the victim may well decide that medical attention is no longer required. During this period of false remission, however, the victim's liver is being destroyed by the amatoxins. By the time liver failure occurs, there are few options remaining aside from a liver transplant, as in the article at the top of this page. Without a transplant, death occurs within a few days."
