Questions on outdoor growing
    #5613023 - 05/10/06 02:30 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I'm beginning to get results from an outdoor grow, and am considering writing a tek, as my spawn method was rather easy, just a few Qs first.

I used store bought cow manure, and didn't bother to pasturize. Could this present problems later on? It seems to be doing great right now. I'm inclined to think that fungus is the only thing to "take" to it in an outdoor environment (other than plants of course). And so long as the inoculation is good, other fungi shouldn't be a problem. Does this sound right?

Thoughts on straw in the same situation?

Rahz

I second that. Mycelium Running is great, just started on it today but I'm very busy so it'll be a while before I get through it.

Write your tek, give it a go and we'll all help you to improve it.

I've successfully used store bought composted cow manure and straw in outdoor beds with cubensis in an easy layering technique.

As for the no pasteurization, yeah I didn't pasteurize either the poo or the straw and came up with zero contams, and that was last year and still no ill signs.

I think mother nature gives us a hand and the mycelium activates certain defenses that were not needed in the indoor environment. I guess pasteurization can be avoided outside, but I really know nothing about outdoor cultivation, so that is as far as I'll go.

I have read other posts about people doing outdoor grows with store bought poo, w/o pasteurization, and having great success.

Absolutely no need to pasturize outdoor grows, also straw is a great ammendment to your poo. Writing a tek? OD grows have been around along time with many teks out there already so make sure you aren't infringing on anyone elses tek.
