Being chased by cows.
    #5612787 - 05/10/06 01:41 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

yesterday morning i was in my favorite field and wasnt having much luck so i decided to head to a former sweet spot that was kinda remote. when i made it over the ridge to my surprise there was a shitload of cows waiting there which was kinda strange because i have only seen cows in the field twice and never in the spot which i was going towards. anyways they immediately stopped what they were doing to watch me and i just went about my business but as i headed down the slope they kept edging closer and closer to me, and me being oblivious to their presence didnt notice them creeping up on me. when i finally caught on i ran down a hill to jump across the creek and they all immediately came rushing towards me and a swampy thicket on the side of the creek i was on pretty much made me cornered. i just stood there and waited for them to leave but the whole crowd of them just stared. i tried making noises stomping my feet and even politely asked them to excuse me while i looked for shrooms in their turf but they wouldnt listen.
so i got the balls to jump the creek and make a mad dash for the fence and they all came running after me. after i got on the other side they still followed me forever until my ride came. either way they ruined a good hunt and prolly trampled any cubes in the hotspot that i was looking in. i always thought they were docile fearful creatures but these cows just wouldnt stop fucking with me.

Cows are pretty curious. They are like dogs.

i always thought they would me more skittish. one time at dusk i was outside of a cow field and i flashed an LED a couple times and they all took off running and making that other noise that they make. not the mooing but the wailing sound. one of them was so startled it actually jumped the other direction to flee.

Very strange indeed. Usually cows avoid humans when shrooming or they walk over and try to lick the crack of your ass for salt while one is bent over.

On the other hand, males will charge and buck a trespasser. They know you are not suppose to be there.

Remember that cows can be male or female.

So it was perobably some young buckls chasing your ass out.

Yeah, very curios creatures. The usually they all flock to about 20 feet away from me and just watch what I do. Kinda creepy at times.

so funny cows are dope

i remeber reading a report about sheep eating a patch of magic mushrooms that was huge, and the residents reporting them acting drunk and totally lost in the middle of the road, but they kept eating it.
random to the topic but i thought it was funny

I've never been messed with by the cows.

I have only heard stories, usually about the Bull chasing them away.  But I've never heard any stories about the bulls actually smashing into a person and messing them up.

In your story it sounds like you just got too close to them, and they probably just thought that you were going to feed them.

I always try to walk a different direction than the cows.  If you see a heard of cows than just keep shroomin in the opposite direction.  Plus, the closer you get to them the more they Moo, so when I'm shroomin I try not to upset the cows too much, and just walk the other way.

I've also stood in the middle of stampedes.  And the cows still never touched me, they were just having fun with me.  In those instances I think that the cows just want to be fed, like a feeding frenzy.

In the event of a bull actually chargeing me, I think I would just calmly start walking in the opposite direction of the bull, and I bet 99% of the time that bull will not harm me.  If a bull charges at you (or start Mooing really loud or stomping his hooves real loud on the ground) he clearly does not want you on his field.  So in a case like that just leave his field and maybe try again some other time when he's feeling nicer.

This happens to me and a few friends almost everytime we go to a certain field in fall picking liberty caps. The first time we went there they all edged closer towards us and we ran and they actually chased after us. The next few times we went we noticed the same thing, they'd group together and come closer and closer, but don't be decieved they are curious and if you run they will probably chase you. But when they would group together my friend would kind of run at them and they'd scatter, they are much more afraid of us then we are of them, but they can definitely sense fear. Of course I wouldn't recommend lunging at a bull or anything, and I suspect some cows may not run away when you do this. Just watch out for them, they are sneaky bastards.

We was picking meadow mushrooms(non-psychoactive) in this field and there was this white bull out in the field atop this hill about 600 yds away. I didn't think much of it at all.

So, there's this huge flush of shrooms and I'm bent over picking and I happen to look behind me and here comes this freight train bull full speed 100 yds and closing. His ass was going to put me in a world of hurt. Luckily I was right on the fence edge and I scrambled my ass over that sob like an olympic long jumper!

I didn't realize how big he was untill I was over the fence, he must've wighed 2000 lbs, he stood there glaring at me with the most hatefull stare, he wanted to tear me up bad....

Haha... Dude. Cows are nothing to worry about. Like someone said, cows are very curious animals, like dogs. Most cows associate humans with food so they probably thought you were going to feed them. Everytime I've hunted cubes the cows have followed me around the entire time. Just get used to them. They're not there to hurt you. They just want to know whats up.

They probably thought you were playing some kind of game when you started running.

Only time you need to worry is if you get a bull who starts doing the stomping his hoof on the ground business. Thats when it's time to leave.

Sometimes you gotta get down on your knees and beg them to let you hang out. Tell them why you're there, and ask them for their patience. If you connect with them - you might even find they lead you to some nice finds.

seriously. :smirk:

matt, so
