Releasing PC Steam

I have a Presto 6 qt Stainless Steel PC (weight-style). Is it OK to release steam by tilting the weight to the side? I would imagine this would be safe because if the safety plug "went" and popped out (which it's designed to do if the steam valve doesn't work properly) then the PC would be doing the same thing.
Thoughts?

releasing the steam too quickly can result in cracked jars (sudden temp drop), or moisture bubbling out of your jars (temp in jar still around 250, no more pressure, all your moisture quickly vaporizes)! careful.

Why would you want to do this? The weight is meant to maintain the proper pressure. Tilting it to release steam is only going to decrease this pressure.

Do not vent the pressure nor should you force it to cool.
It takes time, you should not hurry it up, for the reasons that have been mentioned.
