first time offender?

i don't have any sort of arrest record, all i have is a couple of traffic tickets that arent big deals. my question is, i know you can get sentences reduced if you co-operate with the cops, but how bad does the government consider growing pot?
let's just say i had my own house and i had 10 plants growing. cops come in for whatever reason, find my plants, haul me off to jail. what kind of charges would i face? since i would have an otherwise clean record, would it be possible to get sentences reduced to just probation, community service, and fees with a good lawyer? or does growing marijuana automatically mean prison time?

Do you have alot of cash you can shell out on a good ass lawyer. Money can get you out of anything(as much as I hate to say that). But my uncle's house got raided, he was already a felon and was busted with 11 illeagal firearms, 2 lbs of hash, and was growing 3 plants. He got a badass lawyer and had everything dropped down to a misdermeanor. Thats what $250000 can get you in Iowa.

There is no mandatory minimum sentence for under 10 lbs in georgia.

I don't know about how easy it is to actually get charges reduced in the court system though.

thanks.
i wouldnt have 250K to throw around, but im pretty sure i could afford a good enough lawyer. im young, white (hate to say it but it does have benefits), no record, with good grades in college. i think a lawyer could probably talk it down. i dont plan on selling it either, i just want my own personal stash...heh.
norml says there's no minimum for under 10 lbs, but prison time is from 1-10 years. i bet they wouldn't weigh just the buds though, they'd take the whole weight of the plants and above 10 lbs is 5 years minimum.
i dont plan on getting raided because im not gonna be dumb and loud about it and it will be a tight secret, but its best to know before you try. it really sucks that you can't grow a fucking naturally occuring plant in your house without worrying about prison time.

hypothetically speaking...
most areas: they start off charging you with several serious charges, this is to try and scare you. They may put charges there that they cannot prove (like you have a large quantity of weed all bagged up in several bags, maybe even some money, and they try to say trafficking marijuana when the truth is that only gives them possession with intent as long as you have a good lawyer). They pull this type of move especially on first time offenders who have never seen a prison cell. Their whole plan is to scare you bad enough into becoming their little snitch. Even better, their plan is to scare you into incriminating yourself to the point where you confess to the trafficking charges. Basically never trust them, and no matter what they say about telling the truth, dont talk. If they need to hear it from your mouth, they obviously don't have all the evidence to back it up.
I am not suggesting to break the law, I am simply saying protect yourself if you are unjustly charged, it could cause a wrongful conviction, innocent or not. This happens all the time, I have a couple friends which are lawyers.

One thing that i have found is that with a lawyer, they always give you at least one but more then likely two, sometimes even three different plea bargains. Never, and I mean NEVER, settle with what they give you. Say not guilty and they WILL give youa plea bargain at the very least once, which will be less then what they were going to originally give you if you plead guilty right away. Trust me. Ask anyone that has been through the court system a few times. I am sure that they will tell you the same thing.
