What do i do wont they rot or start to rot. they feel a whole lot drier than when i put them in there but you can still bend the stems and they dont break. any ideas

did you just place the fresh shrooms in the desicate chamber? if so that is your problem. desicate is used to just " finish off" the drying process. you need to have them almost completly dry before you place them in the desicate chamber.
i would FAN dry them ASAP when they are almost cracker dry put them back in the desicate chamber....
actually with adiquate fan drying, there is no need for a desicate chamber..

did you fan dry them first? damp rid alone isn't enough to dry them, its good for getting that last bit of moisture out but can't do it all. i know silica gel holds 1/3rd its weight in water (and i believe damp rid is similar), and since your shrooms are about 90% water, you'd need something like 3x the weight of damp rid to your wet mushroom weight to totally dry them... not very economical. if they're mostly dry now i'd say swap out your damp rid with some fresh (or bake the water out of the damp rid in there and replace) and that should finish 'em off. your damp rid has probably reached its saturation point and isn't going to do any more drying than it already has done. in the future give them a head start by air drying first, then finish them off in the desiccant chamber.

i don't know that could be right - i'm used to working with silica gel and baking that is no problem... wait and see what somebody else who uses damp rid has to say before following my advice about baking it then

I have used Damprid for some time. I have not actually tried baking it because it's so cheap to replace. I figure it would break down fairly quickly. But fan drying for a day or two is best--then into the desiccant chamber.
