Should I use Perlite with the PF Tek?

Hey, I'm going to grow P. Cubes B+ using the PF Tek.

I have an old fish tank that I cleaned out thoroughly, and I'm going to cut pieces of glass, one for the lid, and another to divide the tank into 2 triangles, like in the PF Tek (for spraying).





My question is this, should I also cover the bottom of the tank with perlite? And if I use perlite, do I have to mist the tank two times a day? And is there any other way to mist the tank successfully without dividing it with the piece of glass (I'd like to save space)?

*p.s. Do I have to sterilize the perlite before spreading it on the terrarium floor?

don't need to mist, just wet the perlite. wet again when your cakes are done and you put new ones in a splash of h202 would be good to to kill anything that might want to grow. perlite doesn't need to be sterilized. some people bake it after use though to make sure its clearn for the next set. i wouldnt' bother with that glas partition. perlite put a ton of humidity in the air.

Perlite works fine. And as far as the spray shield, its not really needed. Also, you dont have to sterilise perlite. Most just pour some peroxide over it while its draining. When misting, just spray a few feet above the chamber, letting the lighter part of the mist fall in, while the droplets fly away, not landing in your fc.

Oh, and how long should I soak the perlite before putting in the terrarium? Also, is this a one time thing, or do you need to re-soak it, say every week or whatever...

erm

What about running the perlite through a strainer to get it moist, and then just spraying it lightly with sprayer once a week?

pour in perlite and then pour in the water 3 inchs of perlite and 2 of water you will have to refill the water when it gets low and this should create enough humidy to keep the cakes moist

Yes, it works great. Although I didn't use a slanted peace for water drip, but instead just misted the inside walls of the tank. Also I too made my lid from cut glass and had one of the corners chipped off about a half inch so the steam could evaporate out.
