how can u tell the difference between *bruising* of cakes, and the green ick? i have this cake starting to pin,at first i thought it was green ick-it is a bluish green color in places-it looks like where it was handled, the pesas were very hard to get out of the jars it took a little smackin-do u think this is bruising or green ick-its bluish green-and looks kinda like a hair in one place, and a spot about the size of a rice kernel in another-how can u tell in the early stages of green ick,if its that or bruising?color?the jar was really healthy when i birthed it-and now its starting to pin-i havt chunked it yet,but im scared if its green ick it will spread-is it an airborne contam?i have my cakes sitting on individual squares of aluminum foil.
peace

It's probably just bruising.......but i would isolate the cake if i was you.
Since you don't have a picture.

Make a poor mans fruiting chamber for it.
Use something like a 2 Liter pop bottle.....cut it 3/4 of the way up.
Then stick some perilite in that.....spray it down.
Stick the cake in.....then put the top part of the bottle you cut.....on.

Then watch it.

If you think its contams after it fruits.....just make prints from it.
I wouldn't eat it.....if you think its contaminated.
