question about prepping for 2nd flush on casing
    #5605988 - 05/08/06 06:04 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I just picked the first flush off of a casing. There are lots of little black-headed pins left over. Should I pick these AND the healthy pins before patching?
If I want to dunk...should I strip the entire casing of all pins then dunk, patch, and fruit?

I just picked a small casing last night. I'd say you definitely want to get all the black headed ones off. I left the tiniest of the healthy pins on, but took everything above 1/8", then patched the holes.

You only need to pick aborts prior to dunking. If you already have pins forming for your second flush, leave them be. They will definitely benefit from the dunking. You can patch if you want to, but dunking completely bypasses this need. The casing layer provides moisture, which is already provided through dunking. Patching is a waste of time IMO if you dunked your casing.
