Okay, Still a noob, but I have figured out to hit the farms. I'm in Georgia, and have been reading about 2 weeks now. Have made a couple of dumb post, but it finally rained here yesterday. Went to a huge farm that I have access to this morning. There were mushrooms everywhere. I just had a few minutes before I had to hit the road and get to work. Wish I would of took my camera though. Mushrooms were every where in the dung. I started picking and throwing them in a box that I had in the car. Well needless to say, for the noobs "bad idea" due to I thought I would be able to separate them after work( NOT ). Well now I'm stuck with a box full of mixed up mushrooms, Yep I know concentrate on 1 or 2 speci, but kept thinking maybe that one is the one I'm looking for. Well after work went back this afternoon and most of them were already gone. Did find a few though. Interested on any thoughts, sorry don't have size info. But all were off farm land, day after a good steady rain. , , , , , please notice the back spores on the grass beside the mushroom, thats the way I found it. Also Since there all mix up, I can't really tell which spore prints are from which pics. So noobs definitely stay organized. Also been a couple of hours and haven't noticed any blue bruising yet. Looking for a master to take me under there wings. EDIT sorry about the quality of the pics.

Get more pics of #2. Looks like it has potential! Get a print and check bruising reaction.

I thought the last picture looked like it had potential. Impossible to tell from that angle tho. Did you pick that mushroom? If so look if it's brusing blue. Dunno what these guys like the 2nd picture for, obviously it looks like some active that does not grow in my area (Pan Subs?). The last one is the one I'm interested in - especially if there was a cow dung underneith all that grass.
huntershiz,
Many active species you find in a cow paddock will bruise blue. If it bruises a blueish colour and has gills you've got good reason to be hopeful. When you get home sort through your box and look for blue bruising. It's sometimes a geenish/greyish type of blue but when you see it, you'll know it.
Here are some Blue Meanies (Copelandia cyanscens) I found a few years ago in a local cow paddock. Unfortunately I was silly enough to photograph them on a blue background which makes the bruising look more grey. But you can still see the bruising has a blue tinge to it:

P.S. You're not an idiot, it's a learning process mate. And it's fun hey?

To me number 3 looks like a Weilii. But you will need a spore print and bruising.
