When You Trip Are You Dreaming?

I began to wonder this when i was tripping a couple weeks ago.... So I looked some info and this is what I came up with. When u sleep your body naturally releases DMT and serotonin its a fact..... Mushrooms are mainly DMT and when consumed drastically increase your serotonin levels....So could you be dreaming in a way? Or at least be kinda dreaming, possibly in a dream like state? Could you be lucid dreaming while awake? Ive heard u can figure out some things better in a dream state.
Could your dreams be hallucinations and your hallucinations be dreams?

Your assemblage point moves in your dreaming, your assemblage point moves when you trip. The link is that in either case, your assemblage point is not in the fixed position.

Simple answers, is yes!
And I love where you are taking your thoughts...
What is a mere thought, compared to a mere thought, in a dream?
etc..
BTW; Reality is not to be confused with a dream.. but do we ever stop/start dreaming? .. (go back to?)
when you go to bed and sleep, you may dream.. when you eat poison shroom, you might become deceased.. when you eat magic shroom, you trip..
I really think there is an all to obvious connection!

Not that I think you are replying to me.. but as I understand it. any psilocybin-mushroom, contains psilocybin..
Which converts to psilocin in the liver..
and psilocin, is effecting the same receptors, as serotonin...
Where did you get that from anyways? edit: I see where you got it from now!

i always have a strong memory of my dreams when im tripping, they come to life in my mind and make up the ambiance of many of my trips. thus, when you're dreaming, you're exploring the astral realm and creating your own reality. when you trip you're doing the same thing, tho it may be on another plane. whatabout when you dream your trip in advance? and then you trip on your dream. which came first?

looks pretty similar to me lol and it would make sense. When I was tripping on 4g lemon method, I't was almost like my dreams (bad or good) were coming a reality.

These is actually no evidence that your brain releases DMT when you sleep. That was a theory that one author had - he never said it was fact.

They do believe that DMT is a major cause of Near Death experiences, aka tunnels of light etc.

As a lucid dreamer, I find that the dream and bemushroomed states are very different.
Dreaming is more comparable to being extremely stoned on weed, e.g: Things are more believable, entertainment and senses are enhanced, strange concepts are easier to grasp and accept, etc.
Shrooms tend to be more a means of living in the moment and establishing union between you and your subconcious (soul, God, whatever you call it). They make everything seem far more real. I get nothing that I might call an hallucination or delusion on mushrooms that dreams (and occasionally weed) are capable of producing, despite the fact that the experiences are incredibly powerful. On shrooms, I generally feel less connected with the outside world, more vulnerable, but at the same time, my state feels more stable and safe. I guess you could say that I just feel incredibly gentle. This is opposite to my experience in dreams and with weed, where I typically feel less concentrated in mind, more unstable and more concerned with focusing on materialistic things and activities.

No, dreaming and tripping are not the same.
Dreaming works more on the cholinergic system, whereas tripping works predominantly on the serotonergic and dopaminergic system.

I heard we sleep, by converting serotonin, to melatonin..
Thus we have to be awake, and produce serotonin, to get sleepy at night fall! :P

I know this doesnt really prove anything but listen to Joe Rogan on the Breuers show talk about dmt being released in your sleep http://www.joerogan.net/main.php?archives=1&article=44927
I think dreaming consists of your most inner desires wrapped into plots. Perhaps a negative desire can trigger nightmares and bad trips (your trip will differ drastically depending on your state of mind) Maybe positive desires create euphoric, beautiful dreams and when tripping creates the mood and thought patterns of your trip. Unlike when your sleeping however whatever is pondered upon when tripping can be thought out so to speak ..... You can only report so much of what happens when you sleep tho because you cant remember everything in a dream remebering heavy DMT experiences is nearly impossible, so comparing the feeling dreaming and tripping may not be an accurate assumption. I wonder if serotonin and possibly dmt play similar roles when sleeping and when tripping .....there must be some connection!!! but thats why I asked because I was a bit uninformed and wanted to know the answer
Does anybody know the similarities of serotonin after ingesting mushrooms and when sleeping? Is their any studies disproving DMT to be released in a heavy rem state?

Not quite that simple, when I do dreaming, I frequently have shared dreams or enter the dreams of others... In dreams, your assemblage point moves around. The art of dreaming is used to control that movement of the assemblage point, so you can go where you want, explore new worlds, interact with other dreamers, deal with the inorganic beings...

The last trip I had, the whole time I thought I was dreaming. To the point where I forgot that I took mushrooms and kept pinching myself to see if I would wake up. The whole trip, i seriously thought I was dreaming, and to me the feelings are very similar, however, in a dream I can do absolutely whatever I want, and when tripping, I am held within the constraints of what is possible in reality.

the oxygen atom with the hydrogen atom attached to it in DMT might very well be the key that fits into the neuron receptors thus resulting in a totally different experience.
ps. i dont know this for sure, but these polar things on molecules often play a major role in how the molecule functions in your body.
ps2. my english is so bad when it comes to chemistry.
