Texas ID question...

Well I went out to the fields today and came back with a few cubes, probably will find many more in a few days but this is beside the point. When I got back I was getting out of my car and I spotted a cap growing in my front yard. I do not have a camera currently, but I'll do my best to describe it accurately.
Location: near Houston area, on lawn at the foot of Live Oak tree Cap: 2.5 cm, orange/yellow (very similar in appearance to a peach) Stem: 1-1.5 cm, yellow, perhaps slightly hollow Gills: Not sure, there is what appears to be a yellow veil covering them, but I cannot tell for sure if it's just a veil or actually some kind of gills I hadn't yet encountered
The instant I cut the stem dark bluing was very evident, much more so than with any cubes I've ever found. After it remained out for 20 minutes or so the dark blue appears to have become an almost black coloration. A spore print seems to be out of the question unless I figure out what the deal is with this veil thing... Any help would be appreciated.

are the gills more like a sponge than "gills"?

Yeah, exactly, the closest comparison I could make would be a yellow nerf ball.
