How long is too long?
    #5604993 - 05/08/06 01:15 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

A little less than a week ago I received (and inoculated) 2 "Mycojars" that I received from a vendor (Not from here - Baaaaad) Well, tomorrow will make 1 week and I have yet to see ANY sort of growth in EITHER jar. All of the directions were followed to the T, and the jars have been in seperate environments. I dont know what the problem is here. I figured that I would have some sort of mycellium growth by now, but the jars look exactly as when I received them. I even went so far as to inject BOTH of my spore syringes between the jars.
What do I get? Water droplets on the sides of 1 jar, and the beginnings of what appears to be a bad smell. (Kinda like foot and ass)
I mean, I am a noob but can someone confirm or deny my assumptions?
Thanks
-Me

did you sterilize the needle when innoculating???
if the needle wasnt sterilized then that could have caused some contams to get in.

Also was the vendor you got the jar from known or what????

foot & ass means its done for.  bacteria.  a bacterial infection will also prevent mycelium from growing very far if at all... toss 'em... they're only gonna stink worse :frown:

I double sterilized the needle (lit it then wiped it) The vendor was sporebank.com aka, University Scientific, aka IRIE.tc etc. I began to have issues with these guys from the get go. I'm not exactly surprised to find these results now... I couldn't exactly see how the jars were supposed to be completely sterile as they are Tupperware with a hole in the lid and a piece of fuzz in the hole. *Shrug* Maybe others have had more success than I have with this vendor and their products. But now I understand why Shroomery shuns them so.
Guess Ill start looking around here...

did you say you put a full syringe in each jar? that would fuck you your moisture content and give your barcerial infection. use .5 to 1 cc.

you put two spore syringes in two jars? 10ccs per jar? if that's the case, i'm sure they're way too wet. People have reported seeing no growth for up to 5 weeks! (although, I would toss them after just 2, so you can start them over) the lids sound like polyfill lids, which are great IMO

10 cc per jar is way too much..
next time use maximum of 3 cc per jar in 5 holes, or directions.
good luck.

fuck earthstongue, they are overpriced bullshit. and you should be shot in the face FeedYourBrain

just make your own jars, it's easy, WAY cheaper, and very rewarding to know that you actually did it by yourself.

shot in the face? Shit man.

Yeah MAKE ALL OF YOUR OWN STUFF. Don't be a sucker. Do the PF Tek that creamcorn modified and you'll be strait. Use very, very little inoculant for each jar. A little goes a long way, a lot goes no where.

I suggest you sit your little touche down and read threads and teks on this site for at least a week before you do anything else! You need help of the elementary sort, how about buying a book for yourself?? Whatever you do, read tons before doing it. I think a good book for you is "Psilocybin Mushroom Handbook" by L.G. Nicholas and Kerry Ogame.

You are a fool to not benefit from the enormous wisdom there is to offer here.
