Getting a new job
    #5599109 - 05/06/06 09:51 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

I stopped working at the headshop like 3 weeks ago. Tonight I was watching the news and YMCA actually had a full 4-5 minuites pratically begging for life guards. It is going to be fun just sitting there stoned as hell, spining my wistle on a key ring around my fringer all day.

I even get to yell at little kids!!!!

It will be awfully tragic if a child drowns under your watch while you sit there stoned.

Probably not the best idea to get high while other people's lives are in your hands.

It's not like I will sit there watching someone drown. When I'm high 95% capapble of doing anything when sober. Also the chances of someone actually drowning, even a child, with water only being 6 feet deep at most is really small.

I don't know many children that are 6 feet tall.

I'm just saying, even that 5% difference between sobriety and being stoned is utterly irresponsible when you're being PAID to watch over people's children, and possibly have to make split second decisions that their lives could depend on.  That's just my opinion

I hope they drug test.

So, only 5% of the children will drown. That's a pretty decent success rate.

Probably. That figure is so statistically insignificant that it warrants no serious consideration.

Bwahahahaha, seen like this it looks like the best job in the world.

But when it comes to saving people from drowning, that's another story

This whole prospective new job scenario would make an absolutely hilarious anti-drug commercial by the way.

smoking pot does not make you lazy, it makes you more relaxed, I used to smoke weed all the time, it never effected my job and I was grocery store cashier back in 2000, i got fired there because i had to much of an attidtude problem with dealing with costomers. The sad thing is I was one of the best cashiers there, my tills were always accurate.

Let's see....

Life Guard...

Grocery Store Cashier...

I don't even think it's fair to make a comparison between the 2.

As a grocery store cashier, you handle money.

If you fuck up, someone loses cash, you get fired.  Whatever.

If you fuck up as a LIFE GUARD, someone could die.  Then you face charges.  Then you wind up in jail.  Big difference, IMO.

You don't need to be alert, clear headed, and on top of shit as a cashier.  You just said yourself it makes you more relaxed.  Personally, if my child was swimming in a pool, I wouldn't want the life guard to be "relaxed".  I'd rather them be aware of what is going on at all times, and on the egde of their seat, watching my child.

true I see your point..yes being a lifeguard high on weed would be a bad thing, I dont believe in using anything at work at all, even if I could. I drink coffee and energy drinks only at work now. Paty time is after work.

To tell you the truth I'd never trust any lifeguard (whether stone-cold sober or high) to watch my daughter, that's my job.

edit: I do see your point, not trying to argue that, just tossing that out there.
