I peeked at my mono tub today and noticed that hypal knotting has already begun. However the substrate is not even fully colonized yet, is this a problem?

Are you talking about a casing? If so you're probably good to go but pictures would definitely help.

Well hyphal knots would be a bad thing then because the mycelium is giving the signal to start pinning. A picture could say for sure but I don't think they are hyphal knots. Have you exposed it to light often? Light is one of several factors that trigger the stage-switch into fruiting. Another factor is also lack of food, which obviously isn't the case. -6c

But hes not talking about jars, and yes you DO supply FAE to jars if your doing it right, lol. Whether its polyfil, or tyvek lids, or just the old fashioned PF tek of using a top verm layer, colonizing myc needs fresh air.

Optx, try studying the old P.F.( Psylocibe Fanaticus) teks and explanations before arguing with more experienced cultivators. In the ol days, people didnt use polyfil and tyvek and such. They just used a top verm layer in the jars to 1. keep contams out, and 2. provide gas exchange.
Also, try paying attention to peeps original posts before you contemplate your replies, lol.
