Houston Field Report
    #5599018 - 05/06/06 09:24 PM (17 years, 8 months ago)

OK here goes.  Just got back from an area south of houston.  Rain stopped after sugarland.  If your field is south of there towards wharton then it will by dry.  Did find one cube must have been dew fed.  Am thinking of heading northwest tomorrow afternoon towards brenham or college station.  Any suggestions?  We had gallons of rain in Houston proper today but no cows.

Well I will head out today and see what is on the northwest areas of southeast Texas if that makes any sense. Saw some posts last week of college station bounty. Sounds like a great day trip. Sure was hoping more people had something to add.

Bullseye. Found about 8 cubes of various sizes. I am going to have a great afternoon. Went northwest towards brenham. Got close and first field spent 30 min walking around and gathered a nice collection. Should last me a couple of trips. I am so happy. Good luck and thanks to all my fellow shroomers who have motivated me to get out there and be persistent. Damn I wish gas was cheaper. Happy Hunting. They are here.

I'm up here in north texas, I gotta go on a road trip to find some new fields. They are few and far between as i live in a rather urban area. I might head up 78 and see what happens.

The closest I ever found cubes in north texas was tyler-longview and points east. Look in shady areas of cow pastures. Unless it's been raining, forget it. I've heard a few reports of them being found west of fort worth in the pastures along the brazos river, but it seems awfully dry that way. Perhaps in the springtime. . .

Yes, it does get dry west of DFW. Though, i would think that after a few days of rain, you might get lucky and find a few. I've looked a couple times around here and could find nothing other than inactive pans. I have read a report on here of someone even farther west than me (Brownwood area) finding cubes occasionally. And haven't they been found in Oklahoma and Tennessee?

I hunted south of Houston last weekend and turned up with nothing. Way too dry down there now and it doesn't look like it will rain anytime soon.

Yeah I've been meaning to look over there, and east of DFW, outside of Tyler.

so... to eat or not to eat, that is the question that runs around in my brain...?
